Elizabeth Franklin 1718

In the Name of God Amen The twenty second day of March Anno 1716 I Elizabeth Franklin of Cosgrave in the County of Northampton Widdow being ill and weak in Body but of sound and perfect mind and Memory blessed and praised be God foe the same and calling to mind the uncertainty of this Life doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner following That is to say) First and principally I commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God who gave it me hoping thro the Death Passion Merit and Mediation of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to receive free Pardon and Remission of all my Sins And my Body to ye earth to be decently interred therein at the discretion of my Executor herein hereafter mentioned and named And as for such worldly Goods wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I will and devise the same as followeth
Imprimis I give and devise unto my Son John Franklin one Guinea

Item I give and devise unto my Son Hercules Franklin the house I now dwell in together with all Barns Stables Outhouses Orchards Gardens Backsides Commons Profits and commodities to the same belonging and appertaining And also one Acre of Arable Land lying and being in a place called Stockings in the Parish of Cosgrave aforesaid And also Sixteen poles pasture Ground lying in a place called Linford Hale in Quarry Field in the said Parish To Have and to Hold all the aforesaid premises  with their Appurtenances unto the said Hercules Franklin for and during his natural Life Provided and upon Condition nevertheless That he shall maintaine bring up and educate my Sons George Franklin and Robert Franklin according to their degree and Quality untill they shall attain the Age of Twenty years apiece at his own cost and charges And also pay and discharge all my debts which I shall justly and lawfully owe to any person at the Time of my death And also shall pay my sons George Franklin and Robert Franklin the sum of Ten pounds a piece of lawfull money of Great Brittain when they shall attain the Age of one and twenty years a peece But if it happen that the said George Franklin and Robert Franklin or either of them shall dye before they shall attain the age aforesaid Then my Will is That the shares or share of them or him so dying shall be and become the proper moneys of my son Hercules Franklin above mentioned And From and after the death and decease of my son Hercules Franklin I give and devise all the abovemencioned  House Orchard Acre of Land and sixteen poles of pasture ground with their and every of their Appurtenances unto my Son Thomas Franklin and his heirs for ever Item I give all my Goods and Chattels to my son Hercules Franklin I give unto my son Richard Franklin Five pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to him at the end and expiration of two years after my decease I constitute and appoint my son Hercules Franklin sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal the day and year above
