Richard Richards 1645

In the name of God Amen The one and twentieth day of November in the yeare of our lord god one thousand sixe hundred thirtie and seaven and in the teenth yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne lord Charles by the grace of god of England Scotland France and Ireland king defender of the faith etc. I Richard Richards of Cosgrave in the County of Northampton Shepheard doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament as followeth And first I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of allmightie god my maker hoping through the merrites of Jesus Christ my saviour to have free remission of all my sins and my body to thearth whereof it was made And concerning those temporall goods which the allmightie of his gracious liberalty hath bestowed on me I give and bequeath as followeth And first concerning my house and all my land with the appurtenances thereof I give and bequeath unto my sonne Edward Richards and to his heirs forever Item my will and further is that the said house and land with the appurtenances as aforesaid shalbe lett and sett and the yearly rent and profits thereof shalbe for and towards his maintenance dureing his minoritie And soe soone as the said Edward shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares to have the said house and land with thappurtenances as aforesaid at his owne dissposeing Item yf it shall happen the said Edward to depart this world without heires of his body Then I give the said house and land with thappurtenances unto my sonne Richard Richards and to his heires forever Item and if it shall happen the said Robert [sic] Richards to depart this world without heires of his bodie then I give and bequeath my to the said house and land with thappurtenances unto so many of my daughter I shalbe then living to be equally devided among them Now concerning all the other of my goods and Chattles I dispose as followeth Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Alice Richards fortie poundes of like lawful money to be payd her so soone as she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares and in the meane tyme the interest thereof to be payd and dispersed for her maintenance Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Richards fortie pounds of like lawful money to be paid her so soon as shall accomplish thage of one and twenty yeares and in the meane tyme the interest thereof to be paid and dispersed towards her maintenance Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Alice  Richards Fortie pounds of like lawful money to be paied her soe soone as she shall accomplish thage of one and twenty yeares and in the meane tyme the interest thereof to be paied and dispersed for her maintenance Item all the rest and residue of my goods and Chattles whatsoever as yet unbequeathed thaforesaid legacies payed and my funeral expences discharged I give and bequeath to my sonne Richard Richards whom I make and ordaine my soul and four executor of this my last will and testament And I commit him dureing his minoritie to the tu.on?  government and guardianship of my loving and trustie friend John Beachamp the elder In wittnes where are of I have subscribed my name and sette my seale unto this part of my last will and testament that day and yeare above written the marke of the said Richard Richards in the presence of the witnesses named Ar: Walbankr signed Peter Ludgate signed Robert Archer sen

And I earnestly intreat the said John Beauchampe to be a father to them all in whom my repose the beasest care and trust next under god And I give and bequeath unto him for his paynes and care should be taken herein six shillings and eight pence yearly dureing the tyme of his dealing herein  And I make and ordaine my brother in lawe Robert Emerson and my brother Edward Richards supervisors and I give them for their paines twelve pence a peece And lastly my will and meaneing is that yf it shall happen any of my sonns and daughters first are to have legacies to depart this world before they shall accomplish their sevall ages as aforesaid Then he she or they that shall soe happen to dye Then portion and legacie shall remaine unto all the other of my said Children then living Except my son Edward Richards to be equally divided among them In witness whereof to this other or last part of this my last will and Testament marke of the said Richard Richards in the presence of the witnesses named Ar Walbanke signed Peter Ludgate signed Robert Archer sen

Further my will is that my son Robert Richards two Children Margaret Richards and Elizabeth Richards shall have five shillings apiece at twenty one yeares of age if they live soe longe Item my will is that my sonne Edward Richards and my sonne Richard Richards shall be my full executors Item my will is that my 3 daughters shall have equal portions twentie pounds a yeare: for my daughter Alice Richards is to goe age in part all shee hath received in former tyme; Item my will is that my wife shall have my house and meanes that belongeth unto it dureing her life and after her decease to my sonne Edward Richards Item my will is that my wife shall have her three Beasts and three bullocks and all that goods which she brought with her dureing her life and after her decease to be restored unto my children againe the marke of Richard Richards the witnesses names John Beauchamp and William Emerson
