Joseph Smith 1773

In the Name of God Amen I Joseph Smith of Cosgrave in the County of Northampton Weaver being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding thanks be to God therefore do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following First I recommend my Soul to God and my Body to the Earth from whence it came in hopes of a joyful Resurrection and as for such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give and devise my Messuages and Premisses in Cosgrave aforesaid which I lately purchased of Thomas Johnson to my daughter Mary Smith for her Life she keeping the same in repair and at her decease  I give and devise the same to my Grandson William Smith and his Heirs for ever Item I give and devise unto my son Joseph Smith one of my Trustees of this my last Will and Testament ten Pounds Item I give and devise unto my Grandson William Garrett Thirty Pounds Item I give and devise unto my Grandson Joseph Smith One Hundred and thirty Pounds Item I give and devise the remainder of my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever it may be found excluding my Household Goods my debts and Funeral Charges being first paid thereout to my daughter Mary Smith and my Grandson William Smith to have share and share alike Item I give and devise all my Household Goods to be divided between my Grandson William Smith and my Grandson Joseph Smith within one Calendar Month after my decease I do constitute and appoint my son Joseph Smith and John Horton Trustees to pay the above Legacies one Year after my decease out of my Personal Estate and I give my Trustees two Guineas and a half each for their troubles hereby revoking all former Wills by me made ratifying this and no other to be  my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have herewith to set my hand and Seal this twenty eighth day of February in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy two Joseph Smith Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the Testator Joseph Smith as is last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our Names Richard Thurland Simon Pollard Jno Elmes
