John Stringfield 1823

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Stringfield of Puxley in the parish of Cosgrove in the county of Northampton yeoman being of sound mind memory and understanding first I direct that all my just Debts Funeral and Testamentary expenses shall be fully paid and satisfied and I give and bequeath unto my son in law William Sanders of Yardley Gobion in the said county of Northampton Draper and George Frost of Wakefield Dairyhouse in the parish of Passenham in the said county of Northampton Farmer and the survivor of them his Executors and Administrators all and singular my Household Goods and Furniture Plate Linen China Monies Securities for Money whether due on mortgage bond Note or otherwise debts and monies in the Funds and all other my Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever upon trust in the first place to permit and suffer my Wife Sarah Stringfield to have and enjoy the use and benefit of all my said Household Goods and Furniture Plate Linen and China for and during the term of her natural life and upon trust in the next place that they the said William Sanders and George Frost or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall as soon as conveniently may be after my decease collect and get in my debts and sell dispose of and convert it to money such part of my said Personal Estate as shall not consist of money except as aforesaid and by and out of my ready money and monies to arise from such Sale as aforesaid after paying the expences there of and my Debts Funeral and Testamentary expenses as aforesaid I direct my said trustees the said William Sanders and George Frost or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor to put and plan out the trust monies at Interest upon such Government or other Security as they shall think fit proper and the Interest thereof as they shall receive the same to pay unto my said Wife Sarah Stringfield during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I direct my said trustees the said William Sanders and George Frost or the Survivor of them or the Executors and administrators of such Survivor to give unto Mary Stringfield the Widow of my late Son John Stringfield one bed and a few other articles of my Household Furniture and Personal Estate which they in their discretion shall think fit to and for her own use and benefit absolutely and to sell dispose of and convert into money all such part of my said Household Furniture and Personal Estate and shall then remain undisposed of and do and shall pay and apply the same in manner following that is to say one equal half part or share thereof the whole into two equal parts to be divided unto my Grandson William Stringfield of Puxley aforesaid two and for his own use and benefit absolutely to be paid and payable to my said Grandson William Stringfield upon his attaining the Age of twenty one years and the remaining actual half part or share thereof unto my Granddaughter Sarah Sanders of Yardley Gobion aforesaid Spinster to whom I give and bequeath the same to and for her own use and benefit absolutely to be paid and payable to my said Granddaughter Sarah Sanders if or when she shall attain the age of twenty one years in case both or either of my said Grandchildren shall not have attained his and her Age or respective Ages of twenty one years at the decease of my said Wife then I direct that my said trustees or the said William Sanders and George Frost or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall place at Interest the Residue of my said Personal Estate upon Government or other Securities as aforesaid and continue such part thereof as shall be so placed thereof for his her or their support maintenance and education during his her or their respective minorities and upon his her or their attaining the age of twenty one Years then two and shall pay transfer or assigns the share or shares remaining on such Stocks Funds or Securities unto either of my said Grandchildren on his or her attaining the Age of twenty one years in the proportion and manner herein before directed and my Will is that my said trustees shall not be charged or chargeable with any more of the said trust monies and they respectively shall actually receive nor shall one of them be answerable or accountable for the other of them but each one for his own acts receipts neglects or defaults only nor for any Bank Broker or other Person with home any of the said trust monies shall be deposited for safe custody or otherwise in the execution of the said trusts nor for the inefficiency or deficiency of any Stocks Funds or Securities or any other misfortune loss or damage which shall or may happen in the execution of the above trust or otherwise in relation thereto unless the same shall happen by or through his own wilful defaults respectively and also that they my said trustees shall and may by and out of the Monies which shall come to their hands retain and reimburse himself and themselves or costs charges and expences which they or either of them may incur expend or be put unto in in or about the execution of the trusts aforesaid and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Son in Law William Sanders and my Friend George Frost if Executors of this my Will and lastly I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other Wills and Testaments Instruments at any time heretofore by me made and declare this only to be and contain my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I John Stringfield the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in three sheets of paper and to each sheet thereof have set my hand and Seal the thirty first day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three the mark of John Stringfield Signed Sealed Published and declared by the said Testator John Stringfield as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses Wm
